GPS Directions to Černý Vůl

We usually post an information pack to you after your booking has been
confirmed (click here.)

One of the contents of the information pack we will post to you will be a
"how to drive to the Cottage" card.  On that card will be an address and
the GPS SatNav coordinates of your Cottage, together with contact telephone
numbers.   (For the safety of all our Guests this information is not published
on this website as this website is public.)

The Cottage coordinates are approximately 50°8'54.564"N, 14°20'5.419"E
Please check your address card for more accurate coordinates.

If you are planning to drive to the Cottages, then the local postal address of
your Cottage may not be particularly helpful when setting your GPS SatNav.

Local addresses do not work very well.  The street names are very new;
until a couple of years ago the houses were numbered in the order in which
they were built in the village, not sequentially, and there is some confusion
as to which village is correct for the postal address.  Černý Vůl is still officially
a pub restaurant and is not officially a village yet.  Local taxes are paid to
Statenice but Horoměřice post office claims the postal address.
When taking delivery of, say, a washing machine, it is routine for the lorry
to phone from the nearby villages of  Statenice or Horoměřice complaining
that they cannot find us.   Thankfully the taxis (phone 14014) know where
the Cottages are (usually).

It is possible that your GPS SatNav might understand "Za roklí  Černý Vůl Praha  252 62"
or "Unětická Černý vůl Praha  252 62" - but take care that it is not taking you somewhere
else entirely, such as "Únětice Praha 252 62" which is in the next village.
My "TomTom" GPS SatNav appears to know Statenice and Horoměřice but does
not know any local streets and does not know Černý Vůl.

The GPS SatNav coordinates of your Cottage are on the "address card" that we will send
to you - TomTom will accept "longitude and latitude" as an address entry - you need
to click the right arrow on the address input screen to get to the second set of menu options.

Other Guests have told us that http://www.londonprague.com/To%20Cherry%20Tree.htm or
http://www.londonprague.com/To%20Conifer.htm works well

To summarise - try entering the grid coordinates into your GPS SatNav and then check it
suspiciously in case it is trying to take you to the Ukraine instead of Černý Vůl
Take http://www.londonprague.com/To%20Cherry%20Tree.htm
or http://www.londonprague.com/To%20Conifer.htm with you as backup.

Driving to Cherry Tree & Conifer Cottage in Cerny Vul

Driving 675 miles from the Folkestone/Calais Channel Tunnel to Cerny Vul has become
much easier now that the route is almost exclusively motorway.  The drive from Tunnel to
Cottage can be completed in under 10 hours driving time plus the time you may need
for fuel, comfort and safety breaks.

From Calais follow A10 Brussels A3 Köln, A4 Frankfurt A4 Plsen R7 towards Prague.

{Or from Berlin, 220 miles, 4 hours, A113, A13, A4, A17, D8, D8J18, R16, R240.
You will approach Cerny Vul on the R240 from the North.  The instructions below
approach Cerny Vul on the R240 from the South.}

Approaching Prague on the R7/E48 head for Prague Airport "Letiště" (Ruzny and
Knezeves) then Horemerice and the R240 towards Velke Prilepy.

Ideally from the R7 take the right turn immediately before the airport junction
(1km SE of the airport junction) which is signposted to Horemerice.

Ideally from the R7 take the right turn immediately before the airport junction
(1km SE of the airport junction) which is signposted to Horemerice.  Drive straight
on into Horemerice.

(If you miss the turning before the airport, leave the R7 at the airport junction.  The
airport is to your left.  Turn to the right instead away from the airport, turn right
across a bridge into the small village of Predni Kopanina, and at a cross roads in
the open fields outside Predni Kopanina turn left towards Horemerice )

(Driving from Prague Airport: - Leave Prague Airport along the dual carriageway that
is the Airport Approach Road.  Keep going straight on.  You will come to an interchange
over the R7.  Keep going straight on across the interchange towards Predni Kopanina.
(As you approach the interchange, the main road forks right onto the R7 towards Prague (Praha).
Keep going straight on by taking the left fork which is the motorway bridge over the R7.
Immediately as you leave the motorway bridge over the R7, keep going straight on towards
Predni Kopanina by forking left down a small cobbled lane which runs down from the
R7 interchange.)  Leave the interchange over the R7 on a small cobbled road down towards
Predni Kopanina.  After a few hundred yards the road bends sharp right across a bridge over
the valley.  Do not go straight on, but follow the road to the right across the bridge towards
Predni Kopanina and then left into the village of Predni Kopanina.  After leaving the village
of Predni Kopanina the same road continues through open fields.  At the first cross roads
in the open fields outside Predni Kopanina turn left towards Horemerice.)

At the T junction in Horemerice turn left, and at the T junction outside Horemerice
turn left again on the R240 towards Velke Prilepy

The R240 hairpins down a steep hill into Cerny Vul,
passing the Cerny Vul bus stop.

On your right is a pub/restaurant
called "U Cernyho Vola"

At the bottom of the hill in the centre of Cerny Vul the R240 crosses the stream.
Immediately after crossing the stream, turn right into Cycle Track 8100 (recently
given the name "Unětická") signposted towards the Garden Centre and Ve Mlejne
Pub Restaurant.  You are now driving East on Cycle Track 8100 with the stream
on your right (heading "downstream").   On your right is the garden centre
